Green Tower
Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong
Apartment Tower
This design is an exercise to incorporate green initiatives in a residential tower and take advantage of the recently introduced regulatory advantages provided for environmentally sensitive design in Hong Kong.
Greenery is used to absorb heat and reduce CO2 emissions. Sun shading techniques combine with the massing of the façade to help reduce solar gain and reflective materials are used to reduce the surface temperature of the building. Natural cross ventilation of common areas is provided and renewable energy is incorporated through the provision of solar roof panels.
Private and public open green space is provided throughout in a variety of forms and every resident enjoys the use of sheltered balconies with the integration of planter boxes.
